Server - Enterprise
Wide
Reporting |
To cover enterprise-wide performance management
solution, it is not enough to look at just one aspect.
You need a solution that can help you achieve the following:
-
View of the current service level of your applications and network
- View
of current data for drill down and problem resolution / root cause
analysis
-
View of historical data, for
trending, capacity planning, as well as
troubleshooting for problem that happen in the past.
- Ready
report for management
purpose or information sharing
- Periodic reports
that can be generated and emailed / submitted automatically
- Drill-in capability
to the report
- Easy
to access Reports
Observer Reporting
Server (ORS) offers a top-down
approach that
combines enterprise-wide views, macro- and micro-level reporting, and
deep drill-down for problem resolution.
ORS
serves as your performance management center by combining packet-based
analytics along with NetFlow, SNMP, WMI, IP SLA, WAAS, NBAR, and sFlow®
metrics to provide an overall view of network, system, application, and
infrastructure health. Using solution-centric workflows, navigate
quickly from high-level performance reports to the root-cause.
- Baseline
and quickly assess performance of systems, applications, and servers
- Drill
from performance dashboards into link, user, and connection details
- Pinpoint
root cause with in-depth application metrics
- Monitor
trends to prepare for the future

Visibility
|
|
|
With ORS' Dashboard, you get

Root Cause Analysis
- Solve your problem faster |
|
|
Know whether your performance issues is
caused by the Server, or the Network, or the Database, or even the
Applications (for example: too many errors thrown by the systems).
Go beyond system up/down and ping of the different systems.

Manage and
Baseline Performance |
|
|
Compare
performance with
baselines - know what is outside acceptable range and where your
current performance stands. Use baselines to establish benchmarks for
any performance or time-based metrics. This includes application
response time, MOS, or network utilization.
Quickly determine if application delivery and performance is acceptable
based on your network’s traffic patterns, or compare performance from
different periods of time. Compare application performance of every
Wednesday for the last six weeks, or the 15th of every month for the
last 4 months. Set alarms to be immediately notified when performance
metrics have reached a marginal or critical level.

Proactive Problem Resolution
|
|
|
Instead of waiting for calls
from irritated users, you can see what is happening and pre-empt
problem by addressing them before they escalate further.
- Be notifiied of
potential
problems via various means such as email, paging, syslog, etc.
- The system can also
perform
tests and diagnosis during such problem, saving you the hassle of
reproducing the issue -- something that you don't have luxury do to all
the time including performing packet capture.

Share Reports - Encourage
Positive Teamwork and Collaboration
|
|
|
You can share reports among
colleagues and/or team mates by way of giving them access the report
(online), sending it as an email or saving the report as PDF that you
can forward later on.
|
| |
|
Security Options
|
|
|
You can implement user based
or role-based authentication to protect your data.
The Observer Reporting Server
can also limit report availability by department or silo -- - user only see
what (s)he needs to see.
For example, ensure VoIP call quality reports are shared with the
communications and IT teams, but limit access to WAN usage reports to
only the infrastructure department.
